4/12 - Montserrat Monastery and Codorniu Cellars - 8 Hours - Additional Cost
You will have a beautiful tour along the natural park de Montserrat with spectacular views of the mountains and their massive rocks over 4000 feet high. These rocks are visible for miles, with weird shapes and rounded peaks that jut into the sky.
On the way to Monserrat we will visit Codorniu Cellars –birthplace of the famous Spanish Cava (local champaigne). You will learn the whole process of its creation and finally you will taste it! Codorniu has the largest underground cellars in the world that stock up to 100 million bottles, housed in a modernista building which is a monument itself known as the Cathedral of the Cava.
When you arrive at the Monserrat monastery you will learn a great deal about this sacred place, your guide will give a tour to orient you to the main places of interest: monastery, basilica, museum with a marvelous collection of paintings, Stations of the Cross, as well as bars, restaurants, shops and a home products market.
Montserrat is a Benedictine monastery nearly 1000 years old. It is perched half way up the mountain and sheltered by its peaks sitting 725m above sea level. The main attraction of Monserrat is a basilica with the Chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat, known as La Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia.
Youou will also have a chance to hear the oldest boys’ choir in Europe situated in this ancient Monastery. The community of monks runs a boys’ school devoted to the study of music.
You will have free time for lunch and walk.

The Sagrada Família is the single most important site in Barcelona, it is an unfinished temple of the genius architect Antoni Gaudí, who dedicated the latter part of his life to this work. You will have fast track entrance and a guided visit as well as some free time to wander around.
Access to the towers in Sagrada Família is not included in the tour. Large groups are not allowed and entrance times to the Towers and to the cathedral are different.
The Park Güell brings together all the characteristic features of modernism and Gaudí’s own particular vision: sinuous and organic shapes, integration with nature, and broken tile mosaics. It was opened to the public in 1922 and declared a World’s Heritage site by Unesco in 1984
Once in the Park Güell you will enjoy a walk along the intertwining footpaths and steps, see the famous curved mosaic bench and enjoy the views over Barcelona.
